South America's premier live poker series is back in action: the Enjoy Poker Tour's third stop of the year is underway at Enjoy Punta del Este in Uruguay, and this Saturday, August 1, brings the headliner — the US$1,650 Main Event, which crowns its champion on Wednesday, August 5.
The facts: a full week of tournaments
The series opened Friday with the US$550 Open and Day 1 of the US$3,300 High Roller, a two-day event with a 60,000 starting stack. Today the Main Event takes over: Day 1A starts at noon and Day 1B at 5 PM, with five starting flights spread across Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Everyone begins with 30,000 in chips, and survivors advance through Days 2 and 3 to the final table on Wednesday, August 5.
The schedule rounds out with events for every profile: a US$660 Knockout paying a reward for each elimination, a US$1,100 Second Chance for those chasing a rematch, and the classic US$1,100 Senior event closing the week. At the previous stop in May, the Main Event title went to Mauricio Pinochet — so there's a crown to defend.
Why it matters: the region's circuit doesn't stop
With the BSOP Winter just wrapped in São Paulo and the WSOP Main Event final table two days away in Las Vegas, Punta del Este confirms something we keep pointing out: South America's live calendar now runs like a true circuit, with major stops almost every week and players from across the region crossing borders to compete.
For your own game, this schedule is a masterclass in tournament selection: not every event fits every bankroll. A US$1,650 Main with five flights and a deep structure rewards patience and punishes recklessness; a US$660 Knockout forces range adjustments because every elimination pays; a US$3,300 High Roller concentrates the best players and raises the stakes of every decision. Choosing which tournament to sit in — and with what share of your bankroll — is a strategic decision as important as any hand you'll play. If that filter isn't part of your process yet, the ICM lesson from the BSOP Championship is a great place to start.
