KSOP Fortaleza kicks off today. After two years away from the city, Brazil's biggest poker circuit opens the tables at the seafront Gran Marquise hotel this Thursday, with R$1.6 million guaranteed across six days of action, August 13-18.
The facts: the year's penultimate stop begins
This is the fourth of five stops on the 2026 Kings Series of Poker calendar, and the circuit arrives in form: the Rio stop crowned Jorge Rodrigues for R$350K, and the tour crossed borders for the first time this year with an international leg. Now it's the Northeast's turn, at a brand-new venue for the series.
The structure is familiar: today the entry-level events open the room — warm-ups and lower buy-in tournaments —, Friday the 14th brings the main course, the R$4,000 Main Event, and Sunday the 16th hosts the R$10,000 High Roller Championship, the peak of the week. One detail that flavors the week: a good chunk of the field didn't pay full freight. Online satellites have been handing out full packages — hotel plus Main Event seat — for weeks, and several Brazilian players land in Fortaleza today with the trip already locked up for a fraction of the cost. Last time the circuit visited the city, Caio Guedes took down the Main Event; this year brings either a new champion or a historic title defense.
