A poker site climbed to fourth in the global traffic rankings without gaining a single new player. WPT Global moved up because the service that measures the market started counting its cash games too, not just tournament entries. The data is real and the move is real; the lesson for a player is more interesting than the position.
The facts: how the table looks
The industry's reference indicator is a composite score blending tournaments and cash across moving averages. With the full measurement in place, WPT Global's score went from around 1,500 to near 2,000, peaking at 2,082 at the end of August and settling around 1,870 in the latest snapshot — enough to pass CoinPoker and take fourth.
At the top, nothing changed: GGPoker leads by a distance (above 12,000 points), Winamax sits second (around 5,000) and PokerStars third (close to 3,200). In cash games, the fight for the second step is decided by dozens of players depending on whether you read the 7-day or the 30-day average.

Why it matters: traffic decides your schedule, not your winrate
Traffic is liquidity: tables running when you can actually play. A big pool means there is a game at your stake at eleven on a Tuesday night, that tournaments clear their guarantees, and that you are not waiting for six acquaintances to show up. That is logistics — and logistics is half the volume you can put in during a month.
What a traffic ranking does not measure is the quality of the pool. How many players exist says nothing about how many play well, how much rake you pay, or how much of it comes back to you. Two sites with the same table count can carry opposite EV for you. The useful question is not "which is biggest?" but "where am I the one making the better decisions?" — which is precisely the logic of table selection.
And there is a reflex worth switching off: reading a ranking as a recommendation. Traffic tables are published by industry outlets and they move on methodology changes like this week's. Before shifting your volume to a site, look at what actually touches your wallet: the terms. How much rake you pay, how much returns as rakeback, how fast withdrawals clear, and who answers you when something breaks.
