Fourteen previous entries, just two cashes. That was Carlos Ribeiro's GGMillion$ record before this week. In his first final table of the event, the Brazilian took the title and $406,521. And it wasn't a one-man show: Brazil finished 1-2-3, confirming what the six-Brazilian final table had already promised.
The facts
The GGMillion$ High Rollers is the weekly $10,000 online tournament that gathers the world's elite. This edition drew 197 entries for a $2,010,000 prize pool. Alisson Piekazewicz came in as chip leader and fought to the very end, finishing runner-up for $318,747, with Bernardo Soares third for $249,924. The last four players standing were all Brazilian — and of the $1.67 million still on the table at the final, more than $1.3 million went to Brazil. Brunno Botteon (5th), Fabio Wagner (6th) and Dalton Hobold (9th) rounded out the charge.
The heads-up battle was high-level poker throughout. Ribeiro limped (entered the pot without raising) with ace-five, Piekazewicz raised with pocket queens and snap-called when Ribeiro shoved. An ace on the flop flipped the hand; Piekazewicz picked up a flush draw on the turn, but the river bricked. On top of the prize, Ribeiro earned a $10,000 package for the live GGMillion$ at WSOP Paradise later this year.
Why it matters: titles are built before the cooler
The final hand was, in practice, unavoidable: queens against ace-five heads-up almost always gets the chips in, and one card decided it. The lesson lives in everything that came before. Ribeiro didn't win because of that hand — he won because he arrived at it with chips, after hours of sound decisions against the toughest field in online poker. Developing players obsess over outcomes — the ace on the flop, the bad beat — and forget that variance decides hands, not careers. Your job is to reach that spot over and over; the results distribute themselves.
